Tassels for Bookmarks
Add a tassel on your bookmark to give it that old style classy look.
You can use any yarn you want. Here I am using a crochet yarn that I have lying around.
Spread your fingers and wrap the yarn around about 10 times and cut the yarn. This will give you the extra length that will allow you to decide how long you want your tassel. Pull the yarn out of your hand and you should have 20 count
Cut another 12″ or more yarn and tie in the middle of the 20 count that you created. Then wrap around and make an overhand knot. Do this about three times.
Wrap around again only this time, you will need to create a large loop. the loos should now have four counts of yarns.
Tie both ends in water knot by forming an overhand knot and following it in the other end.
Do the same with the loop side and you should have something that looks like this.
Tie the 20 counts of yarn to create the head by using about 7″ of yarn. Create an overhand knot and wrap around. Do this about three times by creating overhand knots on opposite sides of the previous ones. Secure the string by water knot or glue. Cut the tassel down to size you want. This measures about 3/4″ inch from the neck down of the tassel.
Almost done. You can use a hole puncher to create the hole on you bookmark. Insert the loop that you created thru the hole of the bookmark. Once the hole is thru, insert the tassel thru the hoop and pull.
There you go, your bookmark with a tassel is complete.
You can now use it in your favorite book that you are reading.
Until next time!
