Tissue Paper Napkin Rings
It’s Saturday Arts and Crafts!
Made with tissue paper and florist wire, it’s easy and equally fast to make. This would be a great addition for the Mother’s Day brunch.
You will need tissue paper, wire (I am using florist wire, 22 Gauge), and washi tapes. You will be using scissors, pliers, and wire cutters.
Start by folding the tissue paper in half, and then fold that in half again until you get to about 5″x5.” This will allow you to cut eight pieces of tissue paper at approximately 5″x5.” You don’t have to be perfect. If you can’t get the correct measurement, you can always fix this later. Stack all eight pieces of paper.
Now fold around 1/4″ from one end of the stacked paper, then fold on the other side about 1/4″ creating what looks like an accordion.
On both ends, cut in a round or an arrow shape. This is the time when you can cut the excess length to get to about 4.” Just make sure you are cutting in shape. I usually fold this in half to try to get an even shape. Folding this in half will also help you find the center where you can wrap the wire around twice.
After wrapping the wire around twice, secure the wire on one of the top side of the accordion fold. This side will get covered by the petals. After securing the wire, take both ends of the wire and wrap around the tissue paper leaving about 2″ diameter. Secure on the same side where you first secured the wire.
Once secured, you can now start pulling each sheet up from alternating sides.
Almost done! You should have something that looks like this.
Time to wrap the ring. Use washi tape and start as close to the petals as possible and start wrapping around. Use an inch or two of the washi tape at a time, you don’t have to use a long piece at once.
And that’s it. Fun and easy piece to make for a little Sunday morning brunch or a tea party.
Perfect piece for Mother’s Day table setup.
